Debbie was born and raised in the farming community of Handel, Saskatchewan. She and her husband, Kevin, have been married for 45 years and are the proud parents of two daughters who graduated from Edmonton Catholic Schools. They are blessed with three wonderful grandchildren. 

Debbie earned an Early Childhood teaching certificate before beginning a long and successful career in Training and Development with Canada Safeway, where she received numerous awards for exceptional achievement. In addition to her career, she has also held contracts in Human Resources, further broadening her experience in leadership and organizational development.

Deeply committed to faith and lifelong learning, Debbie has completed several courses on Catholic education and the Catholic faith through the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association and Newman Theological College.

Known for her long-standing commitment to community service, Debbie is dedicated to serving her constituents. Her contributions have been recognized with the Alberta Centennial Medal (2005) and the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2025).

While her children attended Edmonton Catholic Schools, Debbie served in every executive position on Parent Council, and she and Kevin remain active members of their parish community.

Debbie has proudly served Edmonton Catholic Schools for over 27 years. During this time, she has served as Board Chair over 10 times, Vice-Chair more than five times, and Audit and Finance Chair numerous times. She has also represented the Division on a number of committees locally and at the provincial level.

Debbie’s thoughts on trusteeship are reflected in her long-term commitment to and passion for Catholic education. She truly loves serving the Catholic community. With a focus on ensuring success for every student, Debbie works so that each one may reach their full academic potential and graduate with confidence in God’s love. She is dedicated to being a visible, accessible, and faith-filled leader for all stakeholders in Edmonton Catholic Schools.
