Kara is a mother of four, three children have graduated from Edmonton Catholic Schools, and one is attending Catholic high school, a community volunteer, Soccer Coach, and has been active in her children’s schools for the past 28 years. With volunteering for field trips, helping in the classroom to fundraising and writing grants for over 85,000.00 to name just a few. She has held many positions over the years and is presently Chair of school councils. Kara is an active volunteer at St. Theresa’s and Corpus Christi Parishes for over 30 years. Was on Parish Council, is a Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Organized Theresa’s 50th Anniversary Gala. Kara works closely with the Parish Refugee Committee and multiple Edmonton Catholic Schools in overseeing the educational needs of these new students as well as supporting the teachers. Kara has been a member of the Catholic Women’s League for almost 19 years and has served as council President as well as serving two terms on the Diocesan Council. Kara is an experienced Trustee for Edmonton Catholic Schools 2007 to 2010. During that time, she was a passionate advocate for children of all abilities and a strong voice for inclusiveness.

During her term as Trustee, Kara played an active role on the board, served on several committees, advocated for supports for children with special needs, and worked to strengthen home-school-parish relationships.

Kara has a strong work ethic and a solid understanding of board governance and collegiality – essential elements to an effective and functioning board. Her actions and decisions are guided by knowledge, passion, dedication and commitment to serve children to and help them grow, learn in faith, and to serve God in one another.
