Facility Services

Facility Services supports Catholic education by ensuring safe, healthy, and well-maintained environments that foster optimal learning and teaching.

Facility Services consists of seven departments: 

  • Custodial Services
  • Energy and Environmental Services
  • Facility Infrastructure (Maintenance Services and Capital Projects)
  • Electronic Services
  • Warehouse Services
  • Printing Services
  • Financial Operations

Departmental responsibilities include:

  • Interfacing with Alberta Infrastructure on all matters pertaining to Edmonton Catholic Schools' facilities
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with all Division departments to ensure facility/program coordination
  • Representing the Division in regard to municipal and provincial infrastructure issues
  • Establishing standards for design, construction and maintenance of school facilities
  • Planning, scheduling, designing, estimating, contract administration, budget management, implementation, supervision, and commissioning of all new construction, major and minor modernizations, modular relocations, as well as the Infrastructure Maintenance and Renewal (IMR) and Capital Maintenance Renewal (CMR) Programs
  • Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations to maintain the highest possible level of safety for students, staff, and the public within our school facilities
  • Maintaining permanent records of all Division facilities, including changes to the physical plant
  • Providing students and staff with a clean, safe, and healthy environment through effective supervision, education and establishing standards for custodial staff
  • Maintaining all Division buildings and grounds through preventative maintenance programs and ongoing day-to-day repair
  • Providing utilities (power, gas, water, and sewage)
  • Managing energy awareness and implementation of energy management measures to reduce utility consumption
  • Recycling and effective environmental practices programs
  • Operating an efficient, modern and high-quality print shop with the following capabilities: photocopying, offset printing with four-colour, laminating, die-cutting and bindery
  • Operating a warehouse responsible for site-wide interoffice mail delivery, custodial and school supplies management, and delivery through our online shopping cart, as well as loaner pool services to sites.
  • Financial Operations manages the budgets of all Facility Services departments, ensuring that O&M, IMR, and CMR funds are appropriately allocated and reported back to the GOA.
