Mental Health Supports

We understand that the labour disruption may have been difficult for students and families. Edmonton Catholic Schools remains committed to supporting student well-being. Mental Health Therapists (MHTs) are available at school sites to provide support.

If your child is feeling stressed, please contact your school. Staff can help connect you with available services. Families can also visit mykickstand.ca to access free, confidential in-person or virtual therapy services for young people ages 11 to 25. Or contact Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868 or visit kidshelpphone.ca for 24/7 support.

Edmonton Catholic Schools is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming, caring, respectful, safe, and Catholic environment that promotes the well-being of all and fosters community support for achieving this goal. Promoting positive mental health in schools is a shared responsibility of parents/guardians, educators, and community partners.

  • Kickstand Connect (Virtual): Kickstand Connect offers a virtual clinic for youth aged 11-25 with trained professionals and a safe space for group sessions. Free, safe and confidential. No referral needed - just book a session.
  • Kickstand Hub (in-Person): Access free in-person counselling and other services for youth aged 11-25 at Edmonton's Kickstand Hub in West Edmonton Mall. No appointment needed.

Recovery Alberta Community Mental Health Services: Refer to this handout for information for community clinics and other services. Families can self-refer their child for mental health services.

For Youth in Crisis

Contact the Recovery Alberta Crisis and Stabilization Team at (780) 407-1000

The CAST Team offers immediate crisis support through the Crisis Line to children / youth, aged 5-17, and their care providers.

The CAST Team also provides support to professionals in the community. Therapists will determine, together with caregivers, if additional services (e.g., a crisis risk assessment) are required at the time of the crisis call.


ECSD Integrated Health and Well-being Framework 

The Edmonton Catholic Schools Integrated Health and Well-being Framework is a comprehensive guide aimed at nurturing the well-being of both students and staff. It promotes a holistic approach to health, addressing mental, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional dimensions. The framework emphasizes collaboration, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement, fostering an inclusive community.
