March 26th, 2013 - District's Career Skills Centre Partnership

The Edmonton Catholic School District is pleased to announce a one-of-a-kind partnership with the Canadian Welding Association (CWA) and the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) to enhance the District’s new Career Skills Centre. The Career Skills Centre is situated at St. Joseph High School and offers career training programs to students such as Automotive Services, Cosmetology, Health Care Aide and Welding. The Canadian Welding Association and the Christian Labour Association of Canada are providing state-of-the-art equipment for the Welding program.

The Board of Trustees for both Edmonton Catholic and Edmonton Public unanimously approved a feasibility study on student transportation late this afternoon at their respective Board meetings.

This afternoon, a new Chair and Vice Chair were selected for the 2012 – 2013 school year at an Organizational Meeting of the Board of Trustees. Becky Kallal is the new Chair while Debbie Engel is Vice Chair.

Students Continue to Succeed at Edmonton Catholic Schools

The 2011/12 Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT) and Diploma Examination Results were brought to the Board of Trustees late today.  The provincial results are released in conjunction with the October 2012 Accountability Pillar which is an Alberta Education report card for school districts throughout the province.  The Accountability Pillar is released each May and October.

Support staff reject the District’s Contract Offer.

September 12th, 2012 - Contract is rejected:
A total of 760 support staff were eligible to vote either Tuesday or Wednesday at four sites each day. 546 employees rejected the contract offer while 211 voted in favour of the offer.

The Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association hires new Executive Director

The Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association is pleased to announce Dean Sarnecki as the new Executive Director, following the retirement of former Executive Director Stefan Michniewski, effective September 1, 2012.
