P.S.D.L. - The personalized self-directed learning model is a way of learning for students which enables the students to “take charge” of their education in a partnership role with their parents and teachers. As a result, the students learn to become more independent, responsible and goal-oriented in their studies and personal lives. Many educational experts refer to this as “emotional intelligence”. As a result of spending three years immersed in this way of learning, students are better prepared for post-secondary education.
P.E.L.E. -
We offer students the opportunity to learn in a “Wireless Pocket PC Environment”. Initial data shows improved student performance with pocket PC use in a wireless environment.
Fine Arts - The Fine Arts focus program is in specialized teaching music, art, drama and dance delivered through and in an arts-infused general curriculum.
Sports - Athletics and academics have proven to be a successful combination that have helped students develop time management skills that are significant tools to becoming successful learners.
Edmonton Catholic Schools Sports Academies create a supportive, challenging yet enjoyable environment for learning and growing in sports. Located at St. Basil School, 10210-115 Avenue, the Academy serves girls in grades 7-9 in a Christ-centered learning environment and inspires young women to develop in spirit, leadership, intellect, self discovery and service. Busing to the school is available city-wide.
Edmonton Catholic Schools is pleased to announce the expansion of the Jean Forest Leadership Academy to Grade 10 for September 2008 at St. Joseph High School. Grades 11 and 12 will be phased in in subsequent years.
Second Language Programs - Edmonton Catholic Schools believes in introducing your child to a second language as early as possible, preferably in an "immersion" program. Edmonton Catholic Schools offers many Language Programs for your child. Which language you choose may not really matter, since studying any one of them provides benefits. Acquiring a language is effortless for a young child. They naturally absorb a second language through play and exploration. Students in second language programs see improvement of overall academic performance. Language students often perform better in math and logic skills and are more creative when solving complex problems.

Alternative Education - Alternative & Adult Education Services provides alternative educational opportunities and programs to youth, adults and children within the Edmonton Catholic Schools’ community. The student centred programs are highlighted by the outreach junior and senior high school programs for students (grades 7-12) in need of an alternative delivery model and the Adult Language Training Programs for newcomers to Canada. As society evolves, so must our education system adapt to change and meet the needs of the community we serve. Lifelong Learning is an integral component of that adaptation and often acts as a bridge between basic education and lifelong learning.

feeder schools/senior high designations

Designation
to a junior high school is
based on where the student resides,
not necessarily the elementary school the student attends. The
same applies for designation to a high school, as per the District
Admission Policy.
School Boundaries or "Catchment
Areas"

Edmonton Catholic Schools features an open
boundary system. Therefore,
students are free to enroll at the school
of their choice, given
adequate availability of resources and a suitable educational program.
Please note that each geographic
region within the City of Edmonton is associated with designated
feeder schools. Resident students within a particular "catchment
area" or school boundary are entitled to attend specific feeder
schools.
