Summer School Credit Program

Alternative & Adult Education Services

This program is for high school students and is offered during four weeks in July at the locations listed below. All four Fresh Start Outreach sites offer summer school, too. Summer School Credit Program 2008 Brochure

Summer School courses are offered to students during the first three weeks of July each year, in half-day instruction format. Course instruction is a blend of classroom and self-directed learning. For further information contact 426-2010.

PREREQUISITES
Alberta Education regulations regarding prerequisite courses apply to summer school. These regulations specify that a student must have a pass mark of 50% or higher in the prerequisite course in order to continue with the series.
If you register for a course without prerequisite standing, you will be withdrawn from the course without a refund of fees.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE/WORKLOAD
Each week of summer school is the equivalent of one month in a semestered high school. Full attendance is mandatory. Students should not plan any holidays during the summer school period.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students in Canada on a Student Visa/Authorization are eligible to attend the Summer High School Credit Program. You must apply in person (an appointment is recommended) and bring your current visa, passport and school records, that will be reviewed to determine eligibility for admission.

DIPLOMA EXAMINATION and SCHEDULE
All Diploma Exams will be written at Archbishop O'Leary High School at
8760-132 Avenue. The fee for rewriting a Diploma Exam is $26.75 which
includes GST, payable to Alberta Education.

All students writing Diploma Exams must present an acceptable picture ID (Student I.D. or Drivers License).

Exam Schedule

REGISTRATION FEES
Regular Students:
$20.00 Tuition Fee for 5 and 3 Credit Courses
(20 years of age and under as of September 1, 2008).

International Students:
$775.00 for 5 Credit Courses and $450.00 for 3 Credit Courses, plus $50.00 diploma fee for 30 - level courses payable at time of registration.

Materials/Textbook Rental/Caution Fees:
See registration form for fees charged for all courses.

No Caution Fees refunded after July 25, 2008.
