Join us on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre!

Whether your child is new to riding the yellow school bus, transitioning to Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), or in need of a refresher, this free event helps families become familiar with riding the bus before the start of the new school year. 

At First Riders, you and your child will have the opportunity to build confidence and gain important safety knowledge through outdoor safety stations, bus navigation tips, and a Q&A opportunity. You will accompany your child throughout the event, which will conclude with an actual ride on a school bus. The entire session will last approximately 45 minutes.

Location:  Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre (9405 50 Street NW)
Time: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Who is the First Riders event for?

• Pre-Kindergarten (100 Voices) students
• Kindergarten and Grade 1 students
• Grade 7 students transitioning to ETS
• Students taking the bus for the first time or who are interested in a refresher course.

First Riders Information 

• The First Riders event is free, but please register and choose a time slot using the form below.
• Public parking is available at Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre
• Dress for the weather and bring water
• On-site washrooms are available for your convenience

This event is made possible through the collaboration of Edmonton Catholic Schools and our carriers: Cunningham, Edmonton Transit, First Student, Golden Arrow, Southland Transportation, and Stock Transportation.

Media representatives may be invited and are permitted to take photos and videos at the event.
